This blog is maintained by Professor Kevin C. Desouza. The blog will be used to facilitate discussions among students at the Information School of the University of Washington who enroll in IMT 580: Information and Management of Organizations. This course introduces students to the science and art of management. Topics covered range from organizational planning, to organizing resources, leading teams, and control systems. Instead of surveying management in a generic fashion, this course focuses attention on management of intangibles from information to knowledge and even ideas. The course requires one to understand the basics of management and then to seek ways to apply, refine, and innovate, traditional management practices to meet the challenges faced when managing intangible assets.
