HBR Podcast on Collaboration with Morten Hansen

by on March 9, 2010

Harvard Business IdeasCast has a new installment up featuring Morten Hansen. Dr. Hansen is a professor at the UC Berkeley School of Information and wrote, Collaboration: How Leaders Avoid the Traps, Create Unity, and Reap Big Results.  He also blogs for HBR at The Conversation. MSIMers might find his recent piece, “How John Chambers Learned to Collaborate at Cisco” interesting as well.  Here’s a teaser:

Chambers created the following 5 pillars to drive collaboration, an approach we can all learn from. These amount to what I call disciplined collaboration in my book Collaboration: focus on business value, tear down barriers, and create a new organization architecture.

The five pillars are: 1) change leadership style 2) change incentives 3) change the structure 4) change how you work 5) use new social media tools.  The whole piece is a good read and and describes each of these pillars.
